Great Adventure in The Himalayas.

Great Adventure in The Himalayas: March 07, 2015

I had the most incredible trek to ABC this past November. If you are having any doubts about anything, put all of your trust into Gorkha Adventure. From the moment I was picked up at the KTM airport (it was my first journey into Asia, and my first solo international trip), to the moment I was dropped off (this was pre-arranged on my own) in Pokhara at a guest house, everything was simply incredible. Amish Lamichhane was a perfect guide. He had wonderful information about the mountains, the towns we trekked through, and all the nuances of everyday life of those people who lived in the area. He was light-hearted, quick to laugh, and incredibly accommodating. All the time. I, personally, had never been waited on the way that Shankar did wait on me. From saving window seats on the plane into Pokhara to allow for a perfect morning view of the Himalayas, to being sure my nightly sleeping arrangements were taken care of well in advance...he did it all. I ate an enormous amount of dal bhat every night, and enjoyed the hell out of it! And I'd do it all over again. Every single piece of it. Our porter, Nima Lama, was just as accommodating. He met us in Pokhara, and was the perfect addition to our group of four. He was the first to the top of all the climbs, and would be waiting for us with a smile. He and Amish helped me learn pieces of the Nepali language and culture along the way, including some intense card games in the evenings after our hikes. I was initially hoping to be in a group of hikers, but this was not the case. I was told that I'd be trekking on my own. This turned out to be a very fortunate thing. I was able to walk at my own pace, take pictures at my own pace, and interact with so many different people along the trek. Many thanks to everyone at Gorkha Adventure ...you all made this one of the best weeks of my life.
