Dakshinkali-Pharping and Kirtipur

Dakshinkali-Pharping and Kirtipur

Dakshinkali is one of the shaktipeeth is of Hindu and it is 25 km far from Kathmandu. Dakshinkali can be reached within an hour by (bus, car, motorbikes) transport. People sacrifice animals, birds to the goddess kali as they believe that offering blood of animals and birds can make Goddess kali happy. Saturday and the Tuesday are busy days where visitors are found queuing for the worshipping there. They used to do sacrifice the animals to generate the power from the beginning and it is still the same.

There is Pharping Monastery above the dakshinkali temple with a cave of Guru Padmasambhava. Pharping is popular for pear, the fruit production. It has many monasteries, viewpoints, resorts etc.

This historical town lies in the southwestern part of Kathmandu. The beautiful landscape, the ethnic tribe with their uniquely famed tradition and culture, duo ancient and modern houses clustered together, the ages old temples and stupas; the oldest universities T.U. with its spacious premises etc. lend the town a charming beauty.

The mild climate, the well coming people, the cozy restaurants and bars cost the visitors as ever- lasting memories even after their departure from this hypnotic town. Geographically, the hill town Kirtipur is believed to be upon a huge single boulder. So, it remained unaffected even in the terrible earthquake in 1990, while the country had to bear an unaccountable loss and ruin of lives and property.

Artistically on the other hand, it is a granary of arts and crafts. The historical Chilancho Stupa, the century old Baghbhairab temple, Uma Maheshwor temple on the top of the town candidly portray the richness of the ancient art and crafts. Similarly, the magnificent Buddha Bihar in the mid of the town, the Sulakshan Vihar on the bank of Bagmati river are the holy places to flash back the life story of Gautam Buddha the prophet of peace and non- violence.

These is the popular place where can be seen the flocks of devotees and pilgrims on the festive occasions. Likewise, from the top of the town the entire Kathmandu valley can be seen blooming at her best glamour on the kind lap of the ever smiling Himalayan peaks.
